CMC Chapter History
In October 2016, the faculty members and librarians at Colorado Mountain College who were active members of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) formed the CMC chapter of AAUP. In advising College administration, the Chapter members stated the goal was to enhance the environment of trust and respect and to reinforce productive working relations among the faculty members and administrators at Colorado Mountain College.
The original seven members of the CMC AAUP elected officers, approved by-laws, and notified the AAUP national office to receive official recognition. The CMC chapter of AAUP is a part of the national AAUP, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and is a nonproft membership association of faculty and other academic professionals.
The CMC AAUP chapter is also associated with the Colorado Conference of AAUP. Chapter officers regularly attend the annual meetings of Colorado Conference and report on Chapter activities and membership growth. By summer of 2020, Chapter membership increased to 26 members including current full-time and part-time faculty members, current full-time and part-time librarians, and retired faculty members and librarians.
The Chapter has registered as a nonprofit in the State of Colorado, identified as a 501(c)(4) membership organization for IRS purposes, developed an annual operating budget, and opened a business bank account.
